If you have plans of joining the army basic security training, remember that it is not easy and it is not as easy as a security guard training.  It is very tough especially the first four weeks where the training is dedicated to breaking you down physically and mentally and the remaining four weeks are spend building you up.  Before you start with the training, it is better if you prepare yourself.  Know that basic training comprise a lot of walking, running and forced marches.  During preparation, focus on your leg muscles, stamina can come later.  Run too much and when you are done running, run some more, this will also improve your stamina.  Practice sit-ups, push-ups and chin-ups every day because these three exercises are being tested daily during the basic military training.  Learn and practice sleeping regularly and that includes going to bed early and waking up early too.  This will help you to accustom your body to the rhythm of basic training.  Appreciate everything that you have at home because you will definitely miss it all during the training.  It is also important to think and know of your reason why you are interested in joining the Army.  In order for you to persevere with the training, think of the benefits you will gain from serving and also think of the things you want to get away from.  Talk to others that have been through the training in order for you to know what to expect so that you will also be prepared mentally.
