I am a big fan of cheap items. I did not grow up rich and now that I have become an adult, I think I was able to acquire my mother's habit of buying cheap, used items. I am also into recycling so I rarely buy anything that is made or contained in plastic containers. I am all about glass, ceramic and wood. Of course, I only buy used items that are made of these things. I only buy new stuff if I will be giving it away as a gift, but this is very rare. I do a lot of knitting and sewing. If I have the time, I give away items that I made with my bare hands. I think it's sweeter and more special that way.
Aside from the items that I give away and the items that I buy for my home, I also purchased a very cheap car insurance. Of course, my car is a used Honda and I will not get expensive car insurance for it even though I love my car very much. One of my favorite finds in a thrift store is the hardwood center table that I have in my office. The table was made from Asia, it has some scratches but those only add to its charm. I bought for quite a high price but I thought it was worth it. It's a very good conversation started as well because of its rich color and it is huge, too. It can handle my computer and tons of notebooks and pens.
